Deadly firing attack on bus kills 45, injures many in Karachi near Saforah round-about

KARACHI: In a deadly terrorist firing attack on a passenger bus in Karachi near Saforah round-about in Gulistan-e-Jauhar killed as many as 45 persons  including 16 women and  many others injured on Wednesday (today) morning,  police said.

According to the police, unidentified assailants eight in numbers ridding on fours motorcycles surrounded the bus and opened fire on it killing 45 persons and inuring 13 others.

Regarding the targeted attack, the police added that the terrorist opened fire on the passengers of the bus after barging into the bus.

Eyewitnesses said that the assailants were kept on firing around three to five minutes in the bus.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir said that Kalashnikov guns and 9 mm pistols were used in the terrorist attack by the terrorists.

The police further added that the assailants killed the driver of the bus first.

The bodies and inured were shifted to the Memon Hospital, the Agha Khan Hospital and the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital. Emergency has been declared in the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital.

The unfortunate bus was heading to Aisha Manzil from Scheme 33 area and around 60 to 65 people were travelling in the bus.

The police have cordoned off the area for collecting evidences to apprehend culprits. Later IG Sindh Gulam Hyder Jamali and Director General (DG) Rangers  Sindh visited the crime scene.
