De Villiers becomes fastest ever to score 8,000 runs in ODIs

DURBAN: South African skipper AB De Villiers has become the fastest batsman to score 8,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

De Villiers achieved this milestone in third ODI against New Zealand in which he scored 64 runs.

The 31-year-old skipper claimed the world record in 182 innings. The record was previously held by former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly which he made in 200 inning.

AB has so far scored 8045 runs with the help of 20 centuries and 47 half centuries.
