Curfew, strike continue on 97th day in IOK

SRINAGAR: Curfew and other restrictions marked by shutdown badly affected normal life across the Kashmir Valley on the 97th day, on Thursday.

According to KMS, several people were injured when Indian forces’ personnel used brute force and fired pellets on protesters in Srinagar, Shopian, Islamabad and other parts of the territory.

Indian police during crackdown operations also arrested over three dozen people.

The forces’ personnel raided the houses of Hurriyet leaders, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Mohammad Yousuf Falahi and Molvi Rafiq, harassed the inmates and ransacked household goods in South Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the joint Hurriyet leadership comprising the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a joint statement in Srinagar extended the protest calendar till 20th October.

A march from the entire occupied Kashmir will be conducted early in the morning, tomorrow, towards the Governor House in Srinagar where a letter will be handed over to the Governor, asking him to vacate Jammu and Kashmir. The marchers will offer Friday prayer along Dalgate-Boulevord- Shalimar roadway.

The health condition of illegally detained Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, is deteriorating in Baramulla jail. Her party in a statement in Srinagar requested the people to pray for the health of top woman resistance leader.

The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement expressed serious concern over the rallies being taken out by extremist Hindu organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, in Jammu. It described the move as a nefarious attempt to spread communal and regional strife in the territory.

The Kashmir High Court Bar Association at its executive committee meeting in Srinagar while strongly condemning the arbitrary arrests of youth asked the international community to play its role in saving humanity from the systematic genocide unleashed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

In Islamabad, Quran Khawani was held at APHC AJK office for the Kashmiri martyrs, particularly for those who sacrificed their lives, during the past three months.

On the other hand, Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh in his online comments posted on his twitter account criticized Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi by calling him a warmonger.

He said Narendra Modi was pushing India to a war like situation with Pakistan to win the next election. –APP
