Computerized medication system launched in hospitals

LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a computerized system for monitoring of medicines and medication in public sector hospitals, health sources said here on Sunday.

Under the new system, record of medicines will be maintained online and shortage of medicines will be monitored without wasting any time while record of patients at outdoor patients departments (OPDs), emergency and wards will also be available on online.

To ensure presence of doctors, computerized attendance has also been introduced besides issuing a computerized prescription after check-up of a patient. Initially, the Mayo and Services Hospitals have started the system.

This task is a joint venture of the Punjab Health department and the City District Government of Lahore.

Meanwhile, a leader of Patients Rights Forum and renowned pharmacist Noor Mehar appreciating the decision of the Punjab government termed it a good step which would not only ensure availability of medicines but also stop misappropriation.
