CM Punjab orders judicial inquiry of Kasur child abuse scandal

KASUR: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday ordered to hold judicial inquiry into the Kasur child abuse scandal that spread outrage in every circle across Pakistan.

Punjab home department has been directed by CM Shahbaz Sharif to file plea before Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik for immediately formation of commission comprising district and sessions judges for the inquiry, said Directorate-General Public Relations, Punjab.

CM Punjab said that the culprits will be strictly punished and the affected families would be provided with justice by the government.

Earlier, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was formed led by Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Khan Sumbal and Additional Inspector-General Operations Punjab Arif Nawaz Khan to investigate Kasur scandal.

The JIT submitted a report that stated for arrests of six persons in connection with the case while raids are being conducted to arrest three more absconding suspects.
