Clean, Green Pakistan: Alkhidmat holds awareness walk at Sea View

KARACHI: Alkhidmat Karachi recently organized a Beach Cleaning drive and Awareness Walk at Sea View Karachi with the participation of the Clifton Cantonment Board as part of its Clean & Green Pakistan campaign run by its Orphan Care Program. The Walk was led by Administrator DMC South Afshan Rubab and Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureishi.

Present on the occasion were MPA Sindh Assembly Syed Abdul Rasheed, Director Community Services Alkhidmat Karachi Qazi Syed Sadruddeen, Councillor CBC Rehan Bootywala, ZakirMehanty, and Vice Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami South District Sufyan Dilawar. A large number of orphan children and youth took part in the drive. The Clifton Cantonment Board had arranged for garbage pick-up vans as well as garbage bins at the beach to facilitate the cleaning.

Participants of the Walk were carrying banners and placards with slogans such as “Let’s clean together”, Throw your litter in the bin” and “Keep our picnic spots clean” amongst others. Coconut saplings were also planted in Beach View Park. Notingthe children’s enthusiasm, Afshan Rubab lauded Alkhidmat’s initiative and expressed her hope for the activity to be repeated in the future, promised her full assistance for it. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Abdul Rasheed informed the participants that Alkhidmat’s Orphan Care Program was not only taking care of orphans, but also instilling moral values in them to make them true Pakistanis.

He said that keeping the nation clean and green was a collective responsibility of citizens and such awareness programs would help bring a change in society. Rashid Qureishi also addressed the gathering saying that the organization of this campaign on the occasion of Pakistan Day was an attempt at creating awareness of cleanliness and good hygiene habits throughout the country.

He emphasized that love for the nation entailed guiding the new generation on the values of keeping the environment clean and green.
