Civilians trial in military courts: Supreme Court rejects plea for full court

The Supreme Court rejected the plea to form a full court regarding the trial of civilians in military courts.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Umar Atta Bandyal, gave a reserved decision yesterday on the request to form a full court against conducting trials of civilians in military courts.

The Supreme Court, Civilian Military Courts hearing on the petitions against the trial was conducted by a 6-member larger bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan asked Attorney General Mansoor Usman if he wanted to say something. On which the Attorney General said that the request of Faisal Siddiqui was heard yesterday, as far as this case is concerned, all the assurances have been given, all the detained persons have been assured of providing facilities.

The Attorney General said that the detainees are allowed to meet their families and have a lawyer, the detainees are being given the right to a fair trial.
