China’s Xiaomi brings ‘Night Vision’ camera

BEIJING: China’s technology giant ‘Xiaomi’ which has a habit of surprising the world has now unveiled a night vision camera.

A new variant of the Yi Camera presented by Xiaomi on Mobile World Congress, the new variant is being called the Yi Camera Night Edition.

The GoPro’s competitor camera is capable of taking pictures at night from a distance of up to 5 metres. Yi Night Edition has a 940mm infrared camera sensor in order to make night photography possible. The camera includes an expandable memory of up to 32GB.

It sports an ‘All glass’ lens which has f/2.0 aperture and 4X zoom which is capable of recording video at 20fps 1280 x 720 and also has viewing angles of 92.7 degrees horizontally, 48.7 degree vertically and 111.2 degrees diagonally.

Most of the Night Edition camera features are similar to that of the original Yi camera.

Yi Camera Features

The original Yi is a Wi-Fi capable camera and comes with an added feature that allows you to push the trigger remotely using your smart phone or tablet.

The Yi camera boasted of a 155-degree wide-angle lens and the capability of taking a still photo 16 megapixels large along with standard digital image stabilization.

The microphone has 3D noise reduction.

The device will only be available in China initially.
