China is more dangerous than Russia: Blinken

WASHINGTON: The US Secretary of State has described China as the biggest threat to the world system.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that Washington considers China a bigger threat than Russia in the long run. The international community must stop and confront China.

In a speech at George Washington University, Blinken warned that China has the economic, technical, military and diplomatic resources to pursue a different vision of the international system.

Blinken said the United States sees Russia as an immediate threat to the global system, but China has more potential to affect international security in the long run.

The US Secretary of State made the remarks at a time when US President Joe Biden has returned home from a visit to South Korea and Japan. At the heart of Biden’s talks in both countries was Chinese dominance at the international level.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken says he has been raising the issue of restrictions on freedom of expression with the Pakistani government.

On World Press Freedom Day, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has said that Pakistan is aware of restrictions on media outlets and civil society.

He says such restrictions undermine freedom of expression and undermine peaceful protests.

He said that these measures undermine Pakistan’s identity and development potential. We raise this issue in direct and on a daily basis.

Remember that today is World Press Freedom Day. Pakistan ranks 157th in the world in terms of protection of journalists.

Earlier last month, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on becoming prime minister.

According to foreign media reports, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has congratuled to the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan has been an important partner of broad mutual interests for 75 years, he said.

“We look forward to continuing our long-standing cooperation with Pakistan, while the United States values our relationship with Pakistan,” said Blinken.

The Secretary of State added that the United States views Pakistan as a strong, prosperous, and democratic country that is essential to our mutual interests.

It may be recalled that the National Assembly on Monday elected PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif as the new Leader of the House, after which Shehbaz Sharif was elected the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
