A worker of PML-N  has died in an armed clash with the members of PTI in Narowal’s PP-54.

There have been reports of clashes between workers of PML-N and PTI in various cities during the ongoing by-elections in Punjab.

Police said the fight broke out between the workers of PML-N and PTI in Kot Najo area in PP-54 Narowal, leaving PML-N worker Muhammad Yusuf dead. The deceased was reportedly hit on the head with a stick leaving him severely injured. Yusuf died while being transferred to hospital, police added.

After the death of the activist,  voting process has been stopped in PP-54 polling station in Kot Najo.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal claimed said that the deceased Muhammad Yusuf was a worker of Muslim League-N, adding PTI cannot win the election through hooliganism. He said that Muhammad Yusuf’s blood will not go in vain and the murderers will be brought to book.

Apart from this, during the by-elections in Sheikhupura and Lahore, four people were injured in a fight between the candidates of Muslim League-N and Sunni Ittehad Council.

The Punjab Election Commissioner has taken notice of the incidents of polling being stopped as a result of clashes between the workers of political parties in various constituencies of the province and has sought a report from the concerned authorities. He also issued orders to ensure the polling process in any case.
