LONDON: Former interior minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has so far not demanded resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported.

“Future of democracy is linked with the parliament house. Panama Leaks issue should be resolved in parliament. If parliament is not used for resolution of issues then lock it,” he said while addressing a press conference in London.

Bilawal and former president and co-chairperson of PPP Asif Ali Zardari are on the same page on the issue of Panama Papers and resignation of the prime minister. Zardari has said he was in favor of democracy, he said.

While commenting on the opposition’s walk out from the parliament on Monday, Malik said it was better if Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah had spoken some more in the parliament after the PM had made his speech. “While, I could not understand why Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan walked out of the House.”

However, he said, let’s be part of the solution now, not part of the problem. Panama Papers leak had become issue of the whole nation. So, the nation should also have its input in its solution, he said adding that he would come up in a few days with a review report on Panamagate.

Malik also said Bilawal’s progress in politics had hurt the opponents. To a query, he said there were some ailments that could not be cured in Pakistan, therefore Zardari had to come to London. We need to improve our health system.

“Pakistan should have hospitals of such standard that nobody opt for cure out of the country,” he said. Earlier, Zardari and Malik had a detailed discussion meeting in London regarding Panama Leaks today, sources said.

Zardari announced a committee headed by Malik, and include PPP Punjab leader Safdar Warraich and Khurram Latif Khosa, to prepare a review report over Panama Papers leaks. The committee would submit the report to Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in two weeks.

The sources said PPP would take a decision over Panama Papers after reviewing the report in Central Executive Committee meeting.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been accused of having links with the offshore companies. He responded on Monday to the allegations leveled against him in National Assembly. The opposition has termed his speech a failure to satisfy them with the required answers.

Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah has said that the opposition would now only talk on the questions in the NA session.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the prime minister failed to give answers of the seven questions, which led the opposition to prepare 70 questions now.
