Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has decided to
put a halt on the export of wheat and wheat flour.
Additionally, it has requested a meeting of the National Price
Monitoring Committee to be called to put forth measures to control the
ever increasing price of ‘roti’ and other wheat products in the local
market.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh headed the ECC meeting of the cabinet
wherein it was brought to attention that the
procured quantity of wheat during this year is 33% less than
corresponding periods of last year.
A report on the entire wheat situation was presented by the Ministry of
National Food Security and Research in the meeting. It was assured
during the meeting that adequate stocks of wheat are available in the
country to cater to the needs of the country.
