SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Asiya Andrabi was detained by police around midnight to prevent her from visiting Handwara.

“First she was placed under house arrest by police. Later, she was arrested and taken to Rambagh police station along with Fehmeeda Sofi,” she said.

Andrabi was scheduled to reach Handwara today and take part in a programme organized over the recent killings of five civilians in police and army action.

It is pertinent to mention here that two days earlier she called on Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit in New Delhi.
