NEW YORK: Amnesty International has slammed India over neglecting of human rights violation carried out by armed forces in occupied Kashmir.

Amnesty revealed that India neglected international obligations and its own constitution by ignoring human rights violations allegedly carried out in the name of national security in Jammu and Kashmir state.

The report revealed that India had not taken any member of its security forces deployed in India-held Kashmir to court for human rights violations.

Amnesty said that an absence of accountability ensured that security personnel continue to operate in a manner that facilitate serious human rights violations.

The report was based on the examination of nearly 100 cases of alleged human rights abuses by Indian security forces between 1990 and 2012 and interviews with 58 family members of the victims in 2013.

More than 100,000 Kashmiri have been killed by Indian army and above 8000 people are missing in the occupied valley.
