Alkhidmat holds Sabrang Festival to empower needy women

KARACHI: Alkhidmat’s women wing has held a two-day festival entitled Sabrang Festival featuring stalls of various products particularly handicrafts by needy women to empower them through financial support without compromising their self-esteem.

A large number of women from all walks of life besides female students visited the two-day festival held at headquarters of Alkhidmat, Karachi. A large number of fair price stalls were also setup at the festival.

The visiting women appreciated the efforts made by Alkhidmat to facilitate both the women in need and buyers in the city.

Munawar Ikhlas, President of Alkhidmat Women Wing, said while speaking on the occasion that the non-governmental organization has been trying its level best to empower unskilled women in the society through providing them training and opportunities.

The main objective of the event was to teach the needy women how to earn for their livelihood instead of proving them cooked meal, said Munawar Ikhlas. She said that skilled women can play a significant role to establish a prosper family.

She further said that such type of festivals and other activities will continue in the future as well.

Ikhlas said that Alkhidmat has also established a skill development center for women to teach various skills sets to particularly the women in need. She also asked the philanthropist community to come forward and support Alkhidmat in this noble cause.
