KARACHI: Alkhidmat Karachi has signed a groundbreaking MoU with renowned IT firm CISCO to give technology-based vocational training as well as IT education at school level.

The agreement was signed by Alkhidmat Karachi Executive Director Yousuf Muhyiuddeen and NAG CISCO ASC Regional Manager Sindh & Punjab Asif Hussain in a meeting at Alkhidmat’s head office in Karachi which was also attended by Alkhidmat Executive Director Rasheed Qureishi, Alkhidmat Karachi CEO Naveed Ali Baig, Manager IT Sayyed Muhammad Aamir and officials of both sides. According to the agreement, Alkhidmat and CISCO will collaborate to devise a detailed program for teacher training, syllabus designing and students’ education and guidance in IT disciplines. Apart from this, students who finish their IT courses will be offered career counselling and assistance in getting jobs.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveed Ali Baig said that besides vocational training, this program will also offer 6-month to 1-year courses in IT to keep the new generation abreast with the latest technologies and boost Pakistan’s progress in the world. He added that the program would benefit hundreds of students in Karachi to become financially strong and independent.

Asif Hussain expressed his pleasure at signing the agreement with Alkhidmat and promised his continuous support for future initiatives by Alkhidmat. He said that CISCO had a presence in more than 80 countries, and future plans included establishing CISCO academies at all the educational institutions under Alkhidmat’s administration.
