Ali Geelani arrested in Indian Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, along with his associates was arrested from the leader’s residence in Indian occcupied Kashmir on Friday.

According to details in Indian media, Gilani was nabbed when he tried to lead a march towards Sopore town.

Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders including the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah had given the call for the march to register protest against the recent killing of pro-freedom activists by Indian armed agents in the Sopore town.

The police shifted Syed Ali Gilani to Humhama Police Station.

The authorities placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar and Altaf Ahmad Shah under house arrest in Srinagar and lodged Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Hilal Ahmed War and Shahid-ul-Islam in different police stations.
