ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt on Monday submitted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s response to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in connection with identical petitions seeking his disqualification on the basis of alleged concealment of assets, tax evasion and money laundering.

The Prime Minister has pleaded the ECP to first rule on its jurisdiction as it cannot disqualify any member under Article 62 of the Constitution.

The ruling Pakistan Muslims League Nawaz (PMLN) has also vowed to prove Imran Khan’s claim ‘false’.

Attorney General Salman Butt was of the view that matter pertaining to disqualification of any parliamentarian is referred to the election tribunal under Article 225.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan announced to hear objections over all the petitions at once and adjourned the case hearing till November 2.
