48th session of OIC foreign ministers council begins in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The 48th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has begun at the Parliament House on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is attending the inaugural session of the OIC Council.

The 48th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is being attended by foreign ministers, observers and guests from 57 Muslim countries.

140 resolutions including Kashmir, Palestine and Islamophobia will be presented in the meeting while terrorism and conflict resolution are at the top of the agenda.

President Arif Alvi will host a dinner in honour of the foreign ministers and delegates while the Saudi foreign minister will formally hand over the chairmanship of the meeting to Pakistan.

Many important countries including China, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia have also been invited to participate in the meeting. The OIC foreign ministers and others will also be shown Pakistan Day Parade on March 23.

The opening and closing sessions of the meeting will be open. At the end of the conference on March 23, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will hold a joint news conference with OIC Secretary General Hussain Brahim Taha.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha and President of the Islamic Bank and many other leaders are present in Islamabad to attend the meeting.
