KARACHI: Industrialists exporting from Pakistan have been given exemption of GSP Plus Zero Export Duty by the European Union for a period of 10 years.

To reap the benefits of this scheme, industrialists must comply with certain international labour standards, and every two years an EU team compiles its report on the implementation of these standards in Pakistan.

Last week, Mr Ulrich Thiessen, the first secretary of the EU Mission in Pakistan and Madam Caroline Bates, the Chief Technical Adviser to the ILES Project, accompanied by Saghir Bukhari of ILO Pakistan, met various labour leaders in Karachi to prepare the report.

During the discussion with the members of the delegation, Shafiq Ghauri, President Sindh Labor Federation, informed that the Pakistan Labour Movement had drawn attention to three points.
