Nepra asked to hike electricity prices


ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested for an increase in the price of electricity.

According to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the Central Power Purchasing Agency has requested to increase the price of electricity by Rs2.65 per unit, which has been made in the context of fuel adjustment.

According to the CPPA, 36.2 per cent of electricity was generated from water and 17.05 per cent from coal in September, while the cost of electricity generated from expensive furnace oil was Rs19.23 per unit.

The petition further said that 8.9 per cent electricity was generated from local gas and 18.9 per cent from imported LNG
