Chinese out-of-control rocket debris plunges into Indian Ocean near Maldives

BEIJING: Debris from the Chinese ‘out-of-control’ rocket plunged into the Indian Ocean near Maldives, reports said.

The huge Long March 5B rocket weighing about 40,000 pounds had almost burnt up in the atmosphere, the China Manned Space Engineering said.

Earlier, there had been speculation over where the Chinese rocket might drop. The US officials had warned the rockets’ return risked possible casualties. However, there have been no reports of injuries or damage so far.

The US military data said that the Chinese rocket was earlier recorded over Saudi Arabia before plunging into the India Ocean.
