Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared a public holiday on 1st Muharram (Friday) on account of the martyrdom day of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A).
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Administrative Affairs has also declared a public holiday on 1st Muharram.
According to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the moon of Muharram has been sighted. The first of Muharram will be on Friday (21st August) and Ashura on Sunday (30th August) .
It should be noted that on the 1st of Muharram, the day of martyrdom of the second caliph, Hazrat Umar Farooq, is celebrated.
