Despite my orders half of Karachi was without electricity yesterday: Chief Justice

Karachi: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed once again reprimanded the K-Electric administration for load shedding in Karachi.

A case related to unannounced load shedding and electrocution deaths was heard in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry on Thursday.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice once again expressed his anger over the management of K-Electric and said that there is no electricity in half of Karachi. The day before yesterday I told them not to carry out loadshedding but the power supply was cut off in half of the city yesterday. Are the mentally unfit?

The counsel for K Electric said that the power supply was not cut off, to which the Chief Justice said that people die and they approach courts and obtain bail against Rs50,000.

The chairman of NEPRA told the court that if action is taken against K Electric, they will take the stay.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked that regulators all over the world do not go to court.

The Chief Justice said that they have a monopoly due to which the people of Karachi are suffering.
