Karachi to receive over 100mm rain in three-day spell


KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has forecast 100 to 130 milimeter of rain in the city in an upcoming spell of three days.

Talking to a local TV, Director Meteorological Department Abdul Qayyum Bhutto said that one low pressure has formed on the Runn of Kutch area while another low pressure is present in the Bay of Bengal. He said that the combination of both wind pressures would increase the intensity of monsoon and this system of monsoon would affect Sindh from Thursday.

As a result of these wind pressures, 100 to 130 mm rain is expected in Karachi during the three-day spell.

The Meteorological Department official said that there is a possibility of more rains than the previous ones, which also poses a risk of urban flooding.

We have issued a warning to the administration, if the drains are not cleaned in time, the situation will worsen, he warned.
