PIA banned to operate flights to US

Karachi: After Europe, the US has also banned PIA to operate flights to the states.

According to a statement of the US Transport Department, the special flight permission of PIA for the US has been cancelled.

It added that the restriction is applicable to all PIA flights to the US.

The restriction has been placed in the wake of flight safety.

The move came after the Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan termed licences of 262 pilots dubious, grounding them.

Earlier, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had asked its 32 member countries to stop pilots possesing Pakistani licenses from flying.

The EASA had written a letter to the aviation authorities of the member countries to stop Pakistani pilots from performing operational duties for the time being in the wake of dubious licenses.

It also asked the member countries to explain if they have any Pakistani pilots then what action has been taken against them.

We have received complaints of fake licenses. This situation in the aviation industry is a cause of concern, the letter added.

The said letter was circulated among the 32 EU countries on July 7.
