PM Imran takes notice of inflation despite cut in POL prices


Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan in Wednesday took notice of the inflation despite reduction in petroleum prices.

According to his office, the prime minister has ordered immediate reduction in the prices of edible items.

He also took notice of hike in flour price, saying there is no justification for increase following the wheat harvesting.

He directed all the chief ministers and the chief secretaries to personally look into the matter.

The prime minister said that the benefit of cut in petroleum prices should be passed on to the masses.

He said that provinces should keep an eye on the prices of essential items on daily basis.

Earlier on Sunday, the government had reduced the petrol price by Rs7.6 per litre.

According a notification of the finance ministry, after the reduction of Rs7.6 per litre, the new price of petrol is Rs74.5 while the price of diesel has been increased by Rs0.5 per. The new price of diesel is Rs80.15.

The notification added that the price of lite diesel oil has been slashed by Rs9.37 per litre. The new price of lite diesel oil is Rs38.14 per litre.

The price of kerosene oil has been set at Rs35.56, showing a reduction of Rs11.88 per litre.
