KARACHI: A senior US official has urged India to respect human rights and restore communication blockade in the occupied Kashmir.

US acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian affairs Alice Wells also expressed concerns over the detention of local political leaders and residents in the valley.

She said that the US considers the Line of Control as a de facto border that separates the valley into two parts.
