WASHINGTON: A senior US official on Sunday lauded Pakistan’s efforts to curb militancy but in the same breath asked Islamabad to do more to halt militants from operating within its borders.
Acting assistant secretary of the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells took to Twitter and said: “We welcome news that Pakistan arrested four Lashkar e Taiba leaders”.
The victims of LeT’s vicious attacks deserve to see these individuals prosecuted now, along with LeT leader Hafiz Saeed, she added.
The US official reminded that PM Imran Khan had vowed to pursue action against militants.
She added that Islamabad must stop militants from operating on its soil for its own future.
