India refuse to print Pakistan name on jersey

In a bid to spark controversy, the Board for Control of Cricket in India has refused to put Pakistan’s name on team India’s jersey for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

The eight-team tournament is scheduled to be played in Pakistan with India are the only team playing their matches in Dubai citing security concerns.

This decision has led to mixed reactions, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing its disappointment over the handling of certain protocols by the BCCI.

As per ICC protocols, all participating teams have host nation name printed on their kits for the event.

However, in this case, India seem to break the tradition and looking to exclude Pakistan’s name from their tournament jersey.

“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain (to Pakistan) for the opening ceremony, now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan,” a PCB official said as per News18.
