Pregnant women are more at risk from heatwaves, warns the Ministry of Climate Change.

It added that the global warming has increased the risk of deadly heatwaves in Pakistan in recent years.

Ministry of Climate Change Spokesperson Muhammad Saleem Sheikh has warned that pregnant women are more at risk from heatwave, adding the situation can be more disturbing and serious for children, elderly and women due to having a weak immune system.

The spokesperson further said that people should protect themselves from troublesome health problems in every possible way, especially avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during hot hours from 11 am to 3 pm.

Sheikh said although anyone can be affected by heatwaves, pregnant women are more at risk, so it is important that they avoid going outside during high temperatures.
