Saudi Arabia has decided to appoint its ambassador to Syria after a decade.

According to a foreign media reports, Saudi Arabia is going to appoint its new ambassador in Damascus.

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia is going to appoint Faisal al-Mujfail as its new ambassador to Syria after 12 years. In 2012, Riyadh closed its embassy and recalled the ambassador after the civil war in Syria.

The gulf state reopened its embassy in Syria earlier this year, while the latter also reopened its embassy in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in December last year.

The restoration of relations between the two countries is seen by Arab countries as an important step to restore relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
