ZHOB: Security forces have killed at least 29 terrorists over the last month in operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
The intelligence-based operations were carried out in response to a “surge in terrorist incidents orchestrated from Afghan soil, wherein, terrorists from Afghanistan attempt to infiltrate through Pakistan-Afghanistan Border and target security forces as well as the innocent civilians”.
The military’s media wing said the operations were carried out in the general area of Sambaza in Balochistan’s Zhob district and other border areas.
During the same series of operations, Major Babar Khan was martyred on May 14, 2024.
“Pakistan’s security forces are determined and remain committed to secure the borders and ensure the safety of its citizens against the scourge of terrorism.”
The statement added that Islamabad has consistently asked Kabul to ensure effective border management on their side. “Interim Afghan government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
Earlier, DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif issued a fresh charge sheet against the Taliban government, accusing them of not doing enough to stop the cross-border terrorist attacks being perpetrated by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The chief military spokesperson also formally confirmed for the first time that the March 26 terrorist attack targeting Chinese engineers in Besham had links to Afghanistan.
The Afghan Defence Ministry rejected the Pakistani statement and instead blamed Islamabad for supporting Daesh.
