Peshawar suicide bomber traced, nearing terrorist network: KP IGP

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Muazzam Jah Ansari has said that they had traced the terrorists who caused the martyrdoms in Peshawar Police Lines and also reached close to the network.

While giving a press conference here on Thursday, the IGP said that all the officers and officials, including me, are depressed because of the Peshawar blast, but we will not let the sacrifices of our martyrs go in vain. We will avenge each and every martyr, he added.

Muazzam Jah Ansari said that the matter regarding the drone attack is completely wrong. Someone said that explosives have been placed and someone called it a drone attack, everyone here is a scientist, he said.

The IGP said the terrorist was wearing a helmet and a mask on his face. The attacker asked a hawaldar for directions to the mosque. He did not know the mosque and was given a target. The hawaldar told him the directions of the mosque. The assailant pretended to pull the bike to the mosque.

Some said that the explosion was a suicide attack. Ball bearings were also found at the scene. 10 to 12 kg of high explosive explosives were used. The mosque in which the explosion took place had no pillars in the hall. The roof was standing on the walls. Due to the explosion, the walls of the mosque collapsed first and all the worshipers were buried under the roof, which led to more martyrdoms.

Earlier, 101 worshipers martyred and over 200 others injured in a suicide blast occurred in the Police Lines mosque here on Monday during Zuhr prayers.

According to rescue sources, the suicide explosion occurred inside a mosque located in Police Lines in Peshawar’s Saddar area. As a result, 101 worshippers martyred and over 200 injured.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where condition of several injured is critical. Sources said that 25 to 30 cops were injured the blast.

According to the rescue sources, the sound of the explosion was so intense that it was heard far away.

Police said that the blast was suicidal.

Sources said that the suicide bomber standing in first row blew himself as the congregational prayers started.

Prayer leader of the mosque was also martyred in the blast.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah speaking to media said that police were fighting with terrorists.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and others strongly condemned the suicide blast.
