Consumers using less than 300 units to be protected: Dastgir

ISLAMABAD: Federal Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir has said that the government will protect consumers who use less than 300 units of electricity.

Speaking on a local TV show, the minister said that if the delayed fuel adjustment charges are collected in the coming months then the circular debt will be reduced.

He said that the same thing is being discussed with the IMF. Quarterly fuel adjustment is to be introduced for those with more than 300 units and those who consume less than 300 units of electricity will be protected.

Earlier, Water and Power Minister Khurram Dastgir has said that there is no immediate increase in the price of electricity, nor is any increase in the basic price of electricity under consideration.

He said this at a function organized at Peshawar Governor House regarding the inclusion of private power system in Upper Chitral in Pesco.

Nahu said that legal matters have to be settled and dues of 3 billion have to be paid to take Pedo to the National Grid, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed to resolve the issues together with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
