Shahid Khaqan Abbasi resigns from party position

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Senior Vice President of Muslim League (N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has resigned from the party post and has decided to spread the message of Pakistan’s welfare through the forum of ‘Reimagining Pakistan’ for the betterment of the country. .

In an interaction with The News at Parliament House, Shahid Abbasi rejected the impression that he was working for General Bajwa for a second extension before his retirement.

He disclosed that he had suggested to (N) League leader Nawaz Sharif in London that if the government is forced to extend General Bajwa, it would be better to leave the government.

He also denied the impression that he was lobbying to make any general the army chief.

He said that he had made it clear to Nawaz Sharif three years ago that if Maryam was brought to a senior position in the party, it would not be possible for her to stay in the party. In response to a question, he said that he had not spoken to Mary since she came from London.

“I am happy that his surgery was successful, my prayers are with him,” he said. He said that he will not be the chief organizer of the party at any point.
