The Lahore High Court has approved PTI’s request for the date of election in Punjab for hearing.

Justice Jawad Hassan of Lahore High Court heard PTI’s request to give date of election in Punjab, in which Barrister Ali Zafar appeared on behalf of PTI while party leader Asad Umar was also present in the court.

PTI’s lawyer argued that the Punjab Assembly announces the date of the election to the governor after its dissolution. The elections should be held within 90 days, first of all you should make the Election Commission a party in it.

The court asked whether you have asked the governor to give the date of the election. Barrister Ali Zafar said that the constitution says that the governor has to fulfill his constitutional duties. Justice Jawad said that we will find out who should conduct the election.

During the hearing, the court called Asad Umar to the rostrum and directed him to read the preamble of the constitution, on which Asad Umar read the preamble of the constitution.

Barrister Ali Tafar took the stand that according to the law, the governor is bound to give a date to conduct the election within 90 days and we wrote to the governor but he did not act.

On this the court said that we have to fight for Pakistan’s democracy.

Later, the court allowed the PTI’s request for the date of election in Punjab to be heard.

The court adjourned the hearing till February 3 while issuing notices to the Principal Secretary of Governor Punjab and Election Commission.
