The United States has said that Pakistan has the due right to defend itself against terrorism as Islamabad had suffered massively from terrorist attacks.

The US statement came hours after Interior Minister Rana Sanullah had threatened to target the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants in neighbouring Afghanistan if the country  does not take stern action to dismantle the terrorists.

The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also asked the Taliban government in Kabul not to provide safe havens to militant groups on its soil.

Islamabad has seen a sharp spike in terrorist attacks, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the past two months after the TTP declared to end the ceasefire with Pakistan government.

US State Department’s spokesman Ned Price said that we’re aware of the recent statement by the Pakistani National Security Committee. He was speaking at a weekly press conference in Washington.

He added that the Pakistani people had suffered tremendously from terrorist attacks. Price said that Pakistan has a right to defend itself from terrorism.
