Next Karachi administrator to be from MQM-P: PPP

KARACHI: Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has said the city’s next administrator would be from MQM-P. He said that the slot will be filled in a day or two.

Speaking to journalists, he said that they had already discussed with MQM-P that whomever they name would become the next administrator.

The announcement made after a PPP delegation met MQM-P leaders at the party’s Bahadurbad office.

Earlier, the PPP had nominated its stalwart Waqar Mehdi for the Senate seat that fell vacant after party leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar resigned.

Talking to the media, former city mayor Waseem Akhtar said that Nasir Shah visited to discuss the upcoming Senate election.

He said that Nasir Shah and PPP leadership wanted MQM-P to withdraw its candidate in Senate.

He said that after discussing the request with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Raabta Committee the party had decided to withdraw its candidate.

Waseem Akhtar hoped that Waqar Mehdi would work for the betterment of Sindh and Karachi.

On the occasion, Nasir Shah said after MQM-P withdraws its candidate, Waqar Mehdi will automatically become a Senator as no other party has nominated their candidate for the vacant seat.
