Six women died as jeep plunges into AJK ravine

MUZAFFARABAD: At least six women were died and seven others — driver among them  — suffered injuries after jeep they were travelling in fell into a deep ravine in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Neelum Valley on Sunday.

Police said that the jeep with female voters on board skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ravine in Dudhnial area.

Police, after being informed, launched a rescue operation and transferred the injured and the bodies to the hospital.

Six women voters succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Police said six injured were in critical condition at the hospital.

Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas had expressed grief over the tragic accident that resulted in the death of six women.

He termed the accident as “heart-wrenching”.
