FIA to take action against hate material on social media

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to make new amendments for restrictions on social media content.

According to a local TV, the government is handing over the power to the FIA ​​to take action on the basis of objectionable material and as per the proposed amendments Section 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code is being added to the FIA ​​Act.

On this basis, FIA will be able to take action against any user on social media content and the user can also be sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

In this regard, the federal cabinet has approved further amendments in the FIA ​​Act through circulation. While the final approval of the amendment in the FIA ​​Act will be taken from the Parliament, after which the FIA ​​can take action on hateful content on social media.

According to the summary, after the amendment, the FIA ​​will also have the authority to act on any kind of fake news and rumors on social media. After the approval of the Parliament, the punishment of up to 7 years of imprisonment can be imposed under this law.

It should be noted that before this, the Islamabad High Court has already declared the PICA Act null and void by strongly objecting.

Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan in the Cipher Audio Leak Inquiry and Foreign Funding Case.

FIA has issued a notice to Imran Khan to appear in the Cipher  Inquiry and he has been directed to appear before the FIA ​​on November 3 at 12 noon.

FIA has also summoned former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on November 3 at 12, besides Asad Umar has also been summoned on November 2 at 12.

The FIA has also summoned Imran Khan to FIA Lahore on November 7 in the foreign funding case.

It should be noted that the march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf towards the federal capital Islamabad is also going on, which is being led by former prime minister Imran Khan.
