PM’s first address to nation: Rs28bn relief package announced to give Rs2,000 monthly to poor families

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that a package of Rs28 billion fund is being launched to save the nation from the burden of increase in petrol price. Poor families will be given Rs2,000 per month, he said.

In his first address to the nation after taking oath as the prime minister, Shehbaz said that Pakistan will run according to the constitution, not against the whims of any one person. I am grateful to my leader Nawaz Sharif and the leaders of the allied parties for this. It was a difficult decision to take over the government in a catastrophic situation. The people demanded that they be rid of the corrupt and incompetent government. Yes, we have accepted the challenge of saving Pakistan. We knew that it would take a lot of hard work to get the country on track, the prime minister said.

Shehbaz said that he wanted to say that the country will run under the constitution and not by the stubbornness and bullying of any one person. The committee twice said there was no such conspiracy.
