Will talk to K Electric about load shedding in Karachi: Khurram Dastagir

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir has said on the ongoing load shedding in Karachi that he will soon come to Karachi and talk to the K Electric administration.

Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh telephoned Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir and apprised him of the energy crisis in the province, including load shedding.

On this occasion, Khurram Dastgir said that zero load shedding was left in 2018, the energy crisis will be overcome soon and we will soon come to Karachi and talk to the K Electric management.

Talking to the Federal Minister, Imtiaz Sheikh said that despite K Electric getting additional power from the federation, load shedding is beyond comprehension.

Earlier, K-Electric (KE), the city’s sole power supplier, has extended the duration of loadshedding in different parts of the city amid sweltering weather on Sunday.

KE has increased loadshedding in different parts of the metropolis, saying that the shortfall has reached 300 to 400mws.

The duration of power load-shedding in high-loss areas has been increased up to 12 hours, while the areas exempted from load-shedding were also experiencing power outages.

The areas include, Baldia, Taiser Town, Manghopir, Surani, Malir City, Lines Area, Liaquatabad, Ittihad Town, Mianwali Colony, Qasba Colony, Abu Al Hassan Isphani road, Gulzar Hijri Scheme 33, Korangi, Landhi and other areas are facing loadshedding.
