JUI-F protests across the country on Maulana Fazlur Rehman's appeal

ISLAMABAD: On the appeal of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, party workers across the country have blocked important roads in protest, causing a traffic jam.

In Sukkur city of Sindh, the JU-F workers staged a sit-in on National Highway in Panu Aqil. The JUI-F workers also staged a sit-in in front of local press club.

In Nawabshah, the JUI-F workers staged a sit-in on Sakrand Road and blocked traffic. In Jacobabad, the workers also staged a sit-in at DC Chowk while in Matiari, the JUI-F workers continue to sit on the National Highway, causing queues of vehicles.

In addition, the JUI-F activists in Swat staged a demonstration at Nishat Chowk Mingora, while in Khuzdar the workers started gathering on the National Highway. Protests are being held on Hazara Expressway in Mansehra on the appeal of Maulana Fazlur Rehman as the workers closed the Hazara Expressway for traffic near Achharian.

Dozens of workers reached Parliament Lodges in Islamabad on the call of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

In Quetta, the party workers protested at Manan Chowk and blocked Jinnah Road by burning tires.

In Hyderabad also, a sit-in is being organized by JUI-F on the National Highway near Qasimabad.

: Islamabad Police on Thursday conducted an operation in Parliament Lodges in the presence of activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F’s (JUI-F) Ansar-ul-Islam, a uniformed force, and arrested several persons.

The operation in Parliament Lodges was carried out under the command of DIG Operations. Media was expelled from Parliament Lodges after which police personnel broke down the door of Salahuddin Ayubi’s lodge and started making arrests.

According to reports, police have transferred 10 persons to the police station secretariat. Among those arrested are JUI National Assembly member Salahuddin Ayubi, Jamaluddin and JUI Islamabad spokesperson Mufti Abdullah.
