Elections likely to be held in early or middle of 2022: Khawaja Asif

LAHORE: PML-N leader Khawaja Asif has said that he believes the general elections would be held in the early or middle of 2022.

Speaking on a local TV show, Khawaja Asif said that the present government would be removed through non-confidence motion. It should not be removed in any unconstitutional way, he added.

The PML-N’s central leader said that if the current government was dremoved in another way, it would be a violation of the Constitution and they would become political martyrs.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-n leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had cleared said that Maryam Nawaz is not a prime minister’s candidate of PML-N as she is not eligible to contest the election.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said in an interview that whenever the elections are held, our prime minister’s candidate will be Shehbaz Sharif.

The PML-N leader had said that it is usually the president of the party who becomes prime minister and Shehbaz Sharif is the party’s president and he will be our candidate.
