Bahawalnagar: India released poisonous water into the Sutlej River, killing thousands of fish at the Sulemanki headworks site in Bahawalnagar.

The water coming from India at Sulemanki Headworks on the Sutlej River in Bahawalnagar has been found to be allegedly toxic, endangering aquatic life.

Large quantities of dead fish have been washed ashore due to toxic chemicals, while fishmongers and others have started picking up dead fish lying on the banks, raising fears that the dead fish could be sold in the market.

According to District Environment Officer Babar Khan, the water released into the Sutlej River during January and February each year contains allegedly toxic chemicals.
