Nepra hints at suspending K-Electric’s licence over loadshedding

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a show-cause notice to K-Electric over unannounced loadshedding, directing the power distribution company to submit a reply within 15 days.

According to media reports, the Nepra, in the show-cause notice, said that the K-Electric has run power plants below their capacity. The power company has also failed to generate surplus power and secure power transmission system.

The notice further said that K-Electric has consistently failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.

Legal action has been taken against the K-Electric for carrying out loadshedding since five years.

The Nepra notice added that the KE had also consistently failed to implement the terms of its licence.
