ISLAMABAD: Mirza Shehzad Akbar, the Special Assistant to PM Imran Khan on Accountability has said that Imran Khan was still adamant that there should be no dual national in the parliament.

Speaking on Geo News show “Naya Pakistan”, Shehzad Akbar said that the government had set an example by disclosing the assets of special assistants but a constitutional amendment would be required to enact a permanent law.

He said that the un-elected members could not sit in the cabinet meeting but could attend the meeting only when invited. The prime minister is adamant that there should be no dual national in the assembly, he added.

Akbar added that the dual nationals could only become a part of the cabinet through an amendment in the Constitution.

He cleared that the special assistants do not have executive powers and the decisions of the cabinet are only signed by the elected members.

He added that the special assistants only give advice.
