Federal cabinet decides to privatise Steel Mills

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday decided to privatise the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

According to details, the federal met here under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan and decided to privatise the Steel Mills.

The cabinet also decided that the employees would be given the golden handshake.

On the occasion, the prime minister directed to take care of the PSM employees alongwith the national interest.

Meanwhile, the sacked employees of Pakistan Steel Mills had moved the Sindh High Court against their termination today.

In a petition, the 9,350 employees said that the Supreme Court had formulated rules for the privatisation of the Steel Mills in 2006.

They prayed to the SHC for a prompt hearing of the petition, which the court had admitted.

A two-member bench will hear the plea on June 15.
