Over 9,000 sacked employees of Steel Mills move SHC against their termination

KARACHI: The sacked employees of Pakistan Steel Mills on Tuesday moved the Sindh High Court against their termination.

In a petition, the 9,350 employees said that the Supreme Court had formulated rules for the privatisation of the Steel Mills in 2006.

They prayed to the SHC for a prompt hearing of the petition, which the court had admitted.

A two-member bench will hear the plea on June 15.

Recently, the Economic Coordination Committee ECC had accorded an approval to offer golden handshake to 9,100 employees of the Steel Mills.

The ECC had also decided to immediately clear all the dues of those avail the golden handshake offer.
